TS Galaxy chairman Tim Sukazi has publicly confirmed that his club formally rejected a R4 million offer from Kaizer Chiefs for midfielder Seluleko Mahlambi, stating the 22-year-old's true value is at least R10 million. The bid was presented by Chiefs sporting director Kaizer Motaung Jr. Sukazi, breaking his silence on the negotiations, said, "Mahlambi, big talent, there has never been an offer in monetary terms outside Kaizer Chiefs." He was emphatic that the R4 million figure was insufficient, placing his valuation at "at least ten and above million" rand.
No compromise reached
Sukazi explained that negotiations collapsed because neither party was willing to shift from their position. Kaizer Motaung Jr stood firm on the R4 million offer, while Galaxy held to their significantly higher valuation. The chairman also confirmed that no player-exchange deals were discussed, as that is against club policy. With the transfer window now closed, no agreement was possible.
Mahlambi stays put
As a result, Mahlambi remains a TS Galaxy player. The young attacker, who was promoted to the senior squad in July 2025, had also attracted reported interest from rivals Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates, but no formal moves materialised from those clubs either.
For Kaizer Chiefs, the failed pursuit comes as they review their squad options while sitting fourth in the Premier Soccer League standings with 14 points from eight games. Their recent form includes three draws and a win from their last four matches. The focus now shifts to their next fixtures, starting with a key away clash against second-placed Orlando Pirates on 31 October. Chiefs, who are nine points behind leaders Sundowns, will continue their campaign without Mahlambi this season.
