Kaizer Chiefs extended their unbeaten start to the 2026/27 Premier Soccer League season with a fourth consecutive draw, held 0-0 by Lamontville Golden Arrows at Mbombela Stadium.
Renaldo Leaner made his debut in goal for the injured Brandon Petersen and was called into action early, making a sharp reflex save to deny Junior Dion. Chiefs had the better of the first-half chances, with Mfundo Vilakazi heading wide from a Pule Mmodi cross in the fourth minute. The clearest opportunity came in the 33rd minute when Faiz Abrahams was fouled in the area, but Lebohang Maboe's resulting penalty was brilliantly saved by Arrows goalkeeper Thakasani Mbanjwa.
Missed chances define stalemate
Kaizer Chiefs continued to press after the break. Vilakazi came closest to breaking the deadlock in the 79th minute, meeting a cross with a volley that rattled the crossbar. Substitute Mduduzi Shabalala also caused problems, his cross finding Pule Mmodi whose header flashed across the face of goal. At the other end, Golden Arrows, who have kept nine clean sheets in their last 12 outings, offered little threat, with Nqubeko Dlamini heading their best chance over the bar.
