Kaizer Chiefs are facing criticism over a coaching decision that a former player says has contributed to goalkeeper Brandon Petersen's recent errors. William Shongwe, a former Amakhosi keeper, has pointed to the club's choice not to retain specialist trainer Ilyes Mzoughi as a key factor.
Shongwe stated that Mzoughi's departure, which came alongside co-coaches Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef, has disrupted a successful working relationship. "Obviously now people will start looking at the coach and say maybe he was good for him," Shongwe said. "Yes, without a doubt they should have kept him. I actually thought they were going to keep him."

Petersen has managed just one clean sheet in his six league appearances this season, a stark contrast to the 18 he recorded last term. His mistakes in matches against Golden Arrows and Richards Bay proved costly for the side.
