Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Kingston Nkhatha has married Kwekwe United chief executive Bridgette Mudhosi in Zimbabwe. The all-black ceremony over the weekend united two prominent figures from the South African and Zimbabwean football scenes.
Sports broadcaster Yvonne Tendai Mangunda, who attended as a guest, confirmed the news. "Today I am at Kwekwe United CEO Bridgette Mudhosi and former Zimbabwe, Kaizer Chiefs and Supersport forward Kingston Nkhatha’s wedding," Mangunda said. "A lovely all black affair." The wedding was described as a union of a "football couple" in local reports.
Career Journey
Nkhatha arrived at Kaizer Chiefs from Black Leopards in July 2012, signing a three-year deal. He made an instant impact, scoring on his league debut in a 6-0 victory over AmaZulu that August. His stint at Naturena lasted two and a half seasons, yielding 13 goals and 8 assists before his contract was released in January 2015. The forward subsequently joined SuperSport United, having also played for Free State Stars, Carara Kicks, and Zimbabwe's Dynamos during his career. He also earned caps for the Zimbabwe national team.
His former club, Kaizer Chiefs, are currently fifth in the Betway Premiership with 14 points from eight matches, having recorded three wins and five draws. They have scored 13 goals and conceded eight, giving them a goal difference of plus five. They are nine points behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns in the title race. The team's recent form shows one win, three draws and one defeat from their last five outings. This sequence includes a 1-0 victory over Red Arrows on Friday 23 October, a 1-0 loss to the same opponent on Saturday 17 October, and draws with Stellenbosch, Golden Arrows and Polokwane City. Their next challenge is a massive away fixture against second-placed Orlando Pirates on Saturday 31 October. The club's current top scorer is M. Shabalala with two goals.
