Kaizer Chiefs FC have officially announced the release of Happy Mashiane with immediate effect. The 28-year-old left wing-back is a product of Amakhosi but hasn't reached his full potential since making his debut in 2019.
What happened to Happy Mashiane?
Mashiane was given his biggest break by Ernst Middendorp, who came in as head coach for Chiefs ahead of the 2015-16 season. He played regularly for the Glamour Boys, especially during the team's CAF Champions League run in 2020-21.
Why was Happy Mashiane released?
However, his form dipped soon after Chiefs lost 3-0 to Al Ahly in the CAF Champions League final in Morocco where he received a red card. The Tembisa-born player spent the whole of last season on loan at Siwelele FC but he only featured once across all competitions.
