Kaizer Chiefs FC wrap up four new arrivals with R10m spend
Kaizer Chiefs FC have completed four signings in the current PSL transfer window, spending just R10 million. The arrivals include a permanent deal for Khanyisa Mayo, a Tanzanian midfielder, and two free transfers in Thabo Moloisane and Renaldo Leaner.
Who has Kaizer Chiefs FC signed?
Khanyisa Mayo has joined Chiefs permanently from CR Belouizdad for a reported fee of R9.8 million after a prior loan spell. Adolf Mtasingwa, a 27-year-old defensive midfielder, arrives from Azam FC in Tanzania - making him the first Tanzanian to wear the Amakhosi shirt.
Central defender Thabo Moloisane joins on a free transfer after his spell with Stellenbosch. Goalkeeper Renaldo Leaner also arrives on a free transfer from Sekhukhune to bolster the options between the sticks.
Why the Mtasingwa signing has divided Chiefs fans
Supporters have taken to social media to question the calibre of Adolf Mtasingwa’s signing. Several fans feel the 27-year-old does not meet the standard required by the club. The debate flared up in the comments sections on Facebook after the announcement.
Meanwhile, Kabelo Nkgwesa got his first run-out in Chiefs’ opening friendly of the tour. The 19-year-old left-back, nicknamed ‘Festival’, played 45 minutes in a 1-1 draw against Scottish giants Rangers. After his taste of first-team football, Nkgwesa wants more minutes.
Who could leave Kaizer Chiefs FC?
Glody Lilepo is another player who may be heading out the door. The Congolese winger scored five goals and made four assists in 27 league outings last season. He operated almost exclusively in a wide attacking role.
Local reports suggest Stellenbosch winger Langelihle Phili remains near the top of Chiefs’ wish list to replace Lilepo. Phili managed seven goals in 27 league outings last term. Ashley du Preez could be used as part of a deal to balance the books.
