Kaizer Chiefs FC has appointed Frenchman Fernando Da Cruz as their new head coach. Da Cruz has signed a two-year contract with the option of a third season. The appointment follows the departure of co-coaches Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef, who left the club after the end of their two-year contracts. Youssef joined Amakhosi at the start of the 2024/25 season, with Kaze arriving in October 2024. Both initially served as assistants to former coach Nasreddine Nabi, who officially left in October 2025. After Nabi's departure, the pair guided the side to an improved 54 points in the league, but the Chiefs are understood to have wanted a return to a more traditional coaching set-up, with just one person leading the first team. Club management is also expected to bolster the technical team, with Da Cruz likely to arrive alongside several members of his own coaching staff. Several South African coaches are also expected to be added to the setup. Da Cruz is no stranger to Naturena, having previously been signed as assistant coach to Nabi, but he left a few weeks into the role before taking up a role in Moroccan football, reports Kickoff.com. He brings experience from both Europe and Africa, having worked with clubs in France and Morocco. He is best known for his focus on player development and building organised, disciplined teams. Chiefs supporters will be hoping he can help restore the club's status as one of the country's top football teams. The team finished last season in 3rd place in the Premier Soccer League (PSL), and expectations are already growing to push higher up the table.
